I had an implant placed and the crown put on #3 (I believe #3 it is top right 3rd back from canine) about two weeks ago. I also have other dental issues with my back teeth including the one directly below the implant. I tried biting on a floss pick between the implant tooth and and the suspected tooth below it about two days after the crown was installed to see if there was pain in the lower tooth and heard a crack and a pain in the bone of the implant. Now when I bite on anything that is firm I get a pain in the bone where the implant is. It doesn't hurt unless I bite on something firm. Out of embarrassment I didn't tell my endodontist how I did it I just told her my implant hurt when I chewed. She did an X-Ray and other tests and said the implant looks good. My question is will it normally heal? Should I tell the endodontist how I did it? Thanks.

Do whitening toothpastes work ? They advertise whiter teeth within days . I have been using it for months and notice no difference. The tooth, beside the porcelain crown tooth, does not get as white as that one. Why are they allowed to advertise whiter teeth if it stays the same ?

I’ve been having trouble with crown and inlay preparations on typodont teeth. Specifically, I struggle with getting the walls of my prep parallel or convergent with the long axis of the tooth. Whether I’m working on the mandible or maxilla, I find that my prep walls tend to lean toward one quadrant.

For example, when working on incisors, I often end up with either the buccal or lingual wall being too convergent while the other is divergent or too straight. I think the problem comes from not properly angling my bur.

Also, does anyone have tips for interproximal reduction without damaging adjacent teeth and still leaving a clean finish line? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone, I'm a bit confused about impression taking in Prosthodontics. It's such a fundamental step, and the success of dentures really depends on getting it right.

When I'm taking impressions using impression compound, I don't apply pressure in the rugae area, but I do in the posterior palatal region and along the ridges. I also do border molding by moving the cheeks in a "C" shape, and for the anterior area, I pull the lip outward slightly to record it properly.

My question is, am I doing this right? I've read that impression compound is mucostatic, so I'm not sure if I should be applying pressure at all. I've come across a lot of conflicting information on this, so I'd appreciate any guidance.

I recently had tooth #19 extracted and an implant placed at the same time. The first few days were fine, but after about four days, it started getting really sore, and the pain hasn’t gone away. It’s been nine days now, and while I don’t see any signs that it’s not healing, the pain has me worried. Is this normal? Can you get a dry socket in cases like this?

Has anyone used the Innodent repair enamel implant? It is an amelogenin analog that forms a matrix for minerals, which can therefore be embedded in the enamel and form a new whole enamel layer on the tooth surface. If this really works, it would be fantastic, because unfortunately veneers cause more damage in the long run

I had a permanent crown placed about four weeks ago. I didn’t have any issues with the temporary crown, but ever since the permanent one was put on, I’ve had this constant, sharp ache. It’s more annoying than painful, though sometimes it gets bad enough that I need to take Advil.

It doesn’t hurt when I eat, and I’m not sensitive to hot or cold. My dentist took X-rays, did an exam, and ran some sensitivity tests. Everything looked normal, but he said the only other option would be a root canal. I’m wondering if I should give it more time, but I don’t think it should still be hurting after four weeks.

Any thoughts?

I bit down hard on some popcorn, and a piece of it went under my gum around tooth #5, which has a crown. The crown was placed 12 years ago, and it had root canal treatment with a short post.

A few days after the incident, I visited a dentist because I felt some discomfort and pain when using a water pick near the area. An X-ray showed no visible damage to the crowned tooth, and I was told to give the gum time to heal. However, the crown has since started to feel loose.

I have an upcoming appointment to see the dentist, but I want to be prepared. What could have caused the crown to loosen, and is there a chance it can be re-cemented, or will I need a new one?

A few days ago, I took a bite of food and have been dealing with a toothache ever since. The tooth has an existing filling, but due to the current situation with the virus, I can’t get to a dentist for treatment.

I’m doing my best to manage it—I’m keeping the tooth clean, avoiding chewing on that side, brushing with Sensodyne twice a day, using mouthwash, and swishing salt water regularly. I’ve also been applying a little toothpaste directly on the tooth before bed.

I’ve cut out all sugary foods and drinks and am only drinking water, tea, and milk. The filling still seems intact, and I don’t have much pain with hot or cold drinks, just a slight discomfort. I can chew on it, but I only tested it briefly and felt a dull ache, which throbs occasionally. I also noticed a metallic taste in my mouth.

This started on Tuesday, April 7th. Will the tooth be okay until I can see a dentist? I had a check-up in February, and all my teeth were fine then.

I just got a six-unit bridge on my upper teeth for cosmetic reasons (no infections or root canals involved). A few days after getting my temporary bridge, I noticed that one of the teeth started to hurt, and when I looked closer, I saw a small hole forming on the inside part of the temporary crown. The hole was tiny at first but has since doubled in size.

My question is, should I be worried about this hole? My permanent bridge won’t be ready for another month, and while the tooth is a bit sensitive, I’m more concerned about the risk of infection or needing a root canal. Should I go back to my dentist now, or is it safe to wait until the permanent bridge is placed? Any advice is appreciated!

I’m getting most of my lower teeth extracted, except for the front six, which my dentist wants to keep. The problem is, that these teeth aren’t in great shape cosmetically or structurally. Since I plan to get permanently fixed dentures supported by implants, wouldn’t it be stronger and easier to go for a full lower denture rather than keeping the front six teeth and doing partial dentures on each side?

I’m wondering if there’s a difference in the long-term benefits for things like eating and overall comfort.

Hi, I am very unhappy with my upper veneers, they are too bit for my mouth and are causing me a lot of pain because my bite is out.

I do not want to replace them with more veneers, what other options are there?
